I enjoyed the event. I liked learning how to deal with models. The location was fantastic for us to practice in a wide variety of settings.

I really was not sure what to expect when I signed up for this class, but was pleasantly surprised with the level of knowledge and expertise of Mr. Horton. He was patient and offered many suggestions to improve our skill levels in portrait photography. His having secured a professional model provided our class with hands on experience.

Turner did a good job going over some of the tips for framing, composing, and exposing portrait shots. I learned from it. The group was also fun to get to meet and share our photography experiences. Having a model was key to allowing us to feel more comfortable with shooting people.

Host arrived on time, was very friendly, had a lot of knowledge about the subject, was enthusiastic about the topic with a lot of experience, used the environmental conditions as teachable moments, gave useful feedback, had a live model and had generally thought through the aspects of the meetup. Walked away with loads of ideas to think about that I had not even considered for a project I'm developing. Would definitely do again.

    Turner Horton
Hey! My name is Turner Horton and I'm so excited to meet new people and share my knowledge of photography! I'm married to my best friend and we have a bulldog named Pumba. For fun, I like to play video games, draw, watch movies, and of course take photos!

I earned my degree in Fine Art and my medium was photography. Since graduating, I explored various areas of photography such as weddings, cosplay, senior portraits, landscapes, pets, boudoir, and commercial work. My favorite area of photography is portraits because there are so many different things you can do! I look forward to sharing what I've learned and building connections within the community!

Turner Horton is available for private bookings

I am open to doing private sessions if someone learns better outside of a group setting. I am available most weekends and Mondays!

I had come home from work and notice these mushrooms had pop up in my front yard. I grabbed my R5 and 100mm Marco lens, laid down on my stomach with a tripod, then I took the shot. This is a 36 shot focus stack. The next day the rain came and then they were gone.

This has been a favorite story of mine all my life. In preparing for the shoot with this model I came across a photo of the girl Disney used to model their ?Alice? after. The resemblance is UNCANNY. I originally had her holding a glass mushroom, but some shots I did through a photosphere came out so good, I placed the sphere in her hands with her inside of it.

Picture was taken while visiting Candy Lane Riverwalk. I visit a couple times each month. There are just so many photo opportunities. I like to have a challenge each time I go and set parameters before going. Some days it prime lens only, others it's macro. It makes the walk more fun. Picture taken with a Canon R8 and the 24-105 kit lens. Image has been enhanced for noise reduction using Lightroom Classic.

This model is such a joy-filled, bouncy little girl. I was looking for a shot that matched her spirit, and energy, and happiness.

I had gone to Drapper WMA near McConnells, SC to shoot the sunflower fields. I usually shoot them and head out. But this time I decide to explore some more of the area. I went through a wooded section and found the light hitting this flower. I just had to take the shot.

I've been working on a series using ladders, the idea of angular hard surfaces alongside the soft curves of the model's clothing and hair. I wanted it simple with neutral colors and few distractions in the background.

I was walking around the rocks at sunset, enjoying the clouds, and thinking I had better get to shelter as that rain burst was heading my way. The sun suddenly highlighted the underside of the rain cloud, and I managed a few shots.I also got rained on very soon afterwards!Canon R6M2 with kit lens 24-105mm.ISO 2000, 24mm, f9.0, 1/1000s. The Old Oak Tree, 2025.This is one of my favorite trees. It is situated alone in a huge field on a little farm near where I live. Every time I see it and the little rope swing that hangs from it, it just fills me with a sense of peace and tranquility. I wanted to portray that in this minimalist, high key version of it.

It was the intention for whale watching, however the whale moves too faster to catch. The eagle on the other hand is very cooperative being my model, looks like he is thinking of the menu for brunch&128539
