ABOUT COLUMBIA

GROUP
Come along to our photo sessions to dust off your camera and get snap-happy with a professional photography instructor.

Brush up on your camera skills and learn new photography techniques whilst on a photo walk class with other local keen photographers!

We run two hour photography sessions based on a photography theme/technique/style and they take place in various locations in Columbia .

  • New to photography? We also run a popular 3 hour Beginners Guide to Photography Class once a month. And once in a while we will run special niche 3 hour classes, for example, Astrophotography - so do subscribe to our newsletter to know when the next on is!

  • Who can attend? Open to all skill levels, from beginners to keen amateurs. The photography instructor is there to help you with camera settings and provide any advice you need.

  • What to bring? We recommend bringing a camera that has full manual mode or semi-manual modes (Aperture or Shutter Priority). Compact cameras and smartphones also welcome!

The meeting point and full details for the day are sent in the booking confirmation email to the email address you provide at time of booking.

Join the Columbia Photography Group on Facebook to share your photos after the session.

Kalief Robinson guided us through a wide number of shooting locations and posing ideas with a very capable model Carly Siegel. It was great to be introduced to the spaces that we can return to if we have the opportunity to take portraits on our own.

A very enjoyable event! Kai was generous, insightful and willing to assist with our many questions regarding lighting, distance and our interaction with the talent. Both the talent and my co-photographers were a very pleasant group to work with. I can highly recommend taking this workshop!

Had a great time. Kalif was very knowledgeable, let us do our own thing, but was right there if anyone had questions. Even threw out the settings he was using to help those just learning their system. He had challenges for each shoot, which helped us push our creativity to the next level.

I enjoyed getting together with others to practice some skills. It was a good time and worth the very reasonable cost.

This model is such a joy-filled, bouncy little girl. I was looking for a shot that matched her spirit, and energy, and happiness.

I had gone to Drapper WMA near McConnells, SC to shoot the sunflower fields. I usually shoot them and head out. But this time I decide to explore some more of the area. I went through a wooded section and found the light hitting this flower. I just had to take the shot.

I've been working on a series using ladders, the idea of angular hard surfaces alongside the soft curves of the model's clothing and hair. I wanted it simple with neutral colors and few distractions in the background.

This photo was taken at dusk and I used a ?lucid dream? filter from prismfx which puts soft halo on lights. I was drawn to how the bistro lights looked like stars. Shot on a Canon EOS R6 with a 17-40mm wide angle lens.

It sometimes pays to keep old clothing--and I mean OLD clothing. My granddaughter found a "vintage" empire waist dress from my teen years in the closet, and we decided to use it to try our hand at a Bridgerton-themed photo shoot. This was our attempt at a Regency-era look.

I have visited Page before, and been to upper and lower Antelope Canyon, which I much enjoyed. Wanting to see more, last year I tried Canyon X, and was not disappointed. I was able to bring a tripod, which you can no longer do in the Antelopes.

Woke up on holiday in Saundersfoot Pembrokeshire and could see the sky changing just before 5am. Grabbed my camera bag and ran to the beach. It was a morning to remember . Taken on tripod with Canon R5 20mm f8 iso200 @ 2sec exposure with polorising filter. Then used denoise in lightroom

Title or Location: John Bell Zoo
Visiting the John Bell Zoo for the first time while visiting my parents. Enjoyed the zoo so much I can back the very next day. The highlight of my visit was seeing the Lynx kits running and playing in their outdoor habitat. I spend half the day watching and photography of them. In the photo, you see one of the kits finally taking a moment to rest but at the same time sees the size of my camera - Fuji GFX100.
